Program Description
|
This program is intended to prepare experienced rowers for the spring racing season. Rowers who do not plan to race are invited to join the program to improve their skills in small boats, but the focus will be on developing competitive lineups. Skills will be developed and conditioning will be improved with the goal of increasing capabilities at race pace.
Boats will be set to achieve success both at the team and individual levels. Top boats will be selected. Training will be done in a manner to both push the top boats as well as to give all participants opportunities to row, improve and succeed with their boats’ line-ups. Training will include small boats (pairs, doubles and singles). The program will also try to make some level of accommodation for those participants interested in racing in other boats (e.g., 2x, 2-) in addition to their work in eights and fours.
In addition to the coached sessions, athletes will be provided with workouts to do on their own.
Athletes will prepare to compete at the following Spring Regattas:
1. Gold Rush Regatta- May 19, Lake Natoma, Rancho Cordova, CA
2. Northwest Masters Regionals- June 22-24, Vancouver Lake, Vancouver, WA
3. Southwest Masters Regionals-May not happen this year
