Row to Recovery (R2R) Program LGRC is excited to bring back this program for 2012! For those in our community who have been touched by cancer, we are offering a half-day program that gives participants an introduction to the sport of rowing. Saturday, May 26th 10:30 am – 2:00pm Overview We’ll start the morning with a quick overview of the sport, learning basic rowing technique on our indoor rowing machines, and then get our group on the water in a specially-constructed, very stable barge (boat). This is a training tool that allows new rowers to focus on learning the stroke without having to worry about balancing the boat.

Overview
We’ll start the morning with a quick overview of the sport, learning basic rowing technique on our indoor rowing machines, and then get our group on the water in a specially-constructed, very stable barge (boat). This is a training tool that allows new rowers to focus on learning the stroke without having to worry about balancing the boat.
After we row, we invite you to join in an afternoon reception at the boathouse where you can share your experiences and get to know your fellow teammates and our volunteers. The benefits: Find new strengths you didn’t know you had. Achieve both personal and group goals in learning to row together. Experience the beauty of Lexington Reservoir. Camaraderie and fun! Who can participate? Anyone in remission from cancer or recovering from treatment (clearance from your doctor is required). Caregivers are also welcome to attend. This program is offered free of charge. You may find that you want to take rowing to the next level by joining our R2R team, with the goal of training and participating in the Row for the Cure in San Diego later this year. For more information or to register for the May 26th session, please contact: Amy Timpe R2R Coordinator amytimpe@aol.com
