2018 Women’s Masters Spring/Summer Program
Target Audience
This program is for Masters Women who have been selected through a tryout period and desire to compete, train with, and race with the competitive sweep team. All participants must be current members and have paid all regatta fees and membership dues prior to participating in the program.
Program Description
This program is intended to prepare experienced rowers for the Fall racing season. Rowers who do not plan to race are invited to join the program to improve their skills in small boats, but the focus will be on developing competitive lineups. Skills will be developed and conditioning will be improved with the goal of increasing capabilities at race pace.
Boats will be set to achieve success both at the team and individual levels. Top boats will be selected. Training will be done in a manner to both push the top boats as well as to give all participants opportunities to row, improve and succeed with their boats’ line-ups. Training will include small boats (pairs, doubles and singles). The program will also try to make some level of accommodation for those participants interested in racing in other boats (e.g., 2x, 2-) in addition to their work in eights and fours.
In addition to the coached sessions, athletes will be provided with workouts to do on their own. Athletes will prepare to compete at the following Spring Regattas (tentative): 1. Head of the Port, October 14 2. Head of the American, October 27 3. Head of the Lagoon, November 10
